Effective Techniques for Smoother, Softer Skin
Laser hair reduction beams a highly concentrated light into the hair follicle which slows or stops hair growth. Shaving, tweezing, plucking, waxing and stringing to remove unwanted hair can be time-consuming, painful and expensive.
Because laser hair reduction is very precise, it only destroys the hair growth you wish to stop. Clients most often ask for laser hair reduction on their face, legs, arms, underarms or bikini line. Our trained medical staff adjust the laser for your specific skin color, thickness, and the location of the hair being treated.
Our office, conveniently located in uptown Dallas, uses Sciton laser hair reduction because it is effective in treating all skin types, including darker skin types and ingrown hairs.
How Long Does Laser Hair Reduction Take?
A topical anesthetic may be applied. Then, a small area such as the upper lip may take 1 minute to laser. A large area such as the upper leg may take up to an hour. As many as 3 to 7 sessions, spread 4 to 6 weeks apart, may be necessary to keep hair from coming back.
For people with certain ethnic backgrounds, such as those of Mediterranean origin, laser hair reduction may be a very prolonged treatment requiring more laser applications every six to 12 months after the initial series.
Immediately after the procedure, cold water, ice packs or an anti-inflammatory cream may help lessen any pain you may feel. Most patients describe their skin as feeling sunburned after laser hair reduction.
For best results, we recommend that clients avoid tweezing, waxing or plucking any unwanted hairs for 6 weeks before treatment. You should use extra sun protection or even avoid the sun at least 3 weeks before and after treatment to prepare your skin for the procedure and protect it as it heals afterward.
